Are humans meant to fall in love with faeries? What are the consequences of killing a faerie in the mortal world? Will Feyre ever find true happiness with Tamlin or Rhysand? What will happen to all of the faeries of the Spring Court?

The title, in my opinion, is describing Feyre as the thorn living in a court with the roses who are the faeries. This was a great fantasy novel which contained wolves, faeries and monsters. There was action from the start of the novel with the scene where Feyre was hunting in the forest to find food for her family. She had to decide whether or not to kill the wolf, but why was the wolf actually there? Action scenes came throughout this novel from all Feyres fights with different bad faeries and the fight at the end under the mountain.

Feyre started as quite a bad main character. Even though she would do anything for her family so they would survive, she allowed herself to be bossed around by Tamlin and Rhysand. She did become more likeable towards the end as she became brave and found the courage to do whatever needed to be done to save the people she loved. Tamlin was a great character was he would do anything to protect Feyre and he was always giving her clues as to ways she could save his life, even if she didn't know they were clues to help her.

The end of the novel was quite predictable when a main character met their grisly end. No spoilers here though as to who that was. i didn't expect the other part at the end where a major transformation happened to another main character in the novel. I loved reading how beautiful the faeries world was as it was described in such a descriptive way. It was easy to imagine yourself living in this beautiful world with the faeries, Tamlin and Lucien.

Overall, I give this novel 5/5 stars. it was highly enjoyable and a great action packed fantasy novel. I can't wait to read the second novel A Court of Mist and Fury when it is released in May 2016. If you love novels packed with faeries or just fantasy worlds then this is definitely the novel for you.
